PS3 Firmware 2.42 is Out

This was kind of unexpected. Firmware 2.42 is up for download.

“Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that a PS3 firmware update (v2.42) is now available for download. This update improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software.”

Uncharted’s Trophies Will be Identical to the Game’s Medals

On a recent Q&A IGN did with Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer he said the following:

“The Trophies are tied to the medal rewards which already exist in Uncharted. The requirement to get each Trophy is exactly the same as the one for the associated medal.
To receive Trophies in Uncharted you will have to start a brand new save game without any medals or rewards unlocked.”

So, we will also have to play the game from the beginning in order to get those trophies.
Good thing Uncharted is a great game…

Bionic Commando Rearmed for the PSN Gets a Release Date

Capcom has confirmed that Bionic Commando Rearmed will be released on the PSN on August 14 – one day after the XBLA release.

Next Version of Unreal Engine in 2012

Mike Capps, the big boss of Epic, predicts that the next version of the Unreal Engine (version number 4) will be out in 2012.

“We’ve got Unreal [Engine] 4 in production right now… it’s going to be in the next console generation – our rough guess is 2012 [to] 2018″

So here you go, the next generation of gaming – under construction

Star Trek Online Announced

Cryptic Studios has officially announced Star Trek Online.

Images from the game will be available at the Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas on August 10, 2008

It was officialy announced at the E3 Sony press conference that some PS3 game will be re-launched at the sweet low low price of $29.99 – starting today!

Check out the list of Greatest Hits:

Actually, only two/three games from this list interests me – Motorstorm, Resistance and Oblivion.

Warhawk (A MUST GAME!), Assassin’s Creed and Ninja Gaiden I already have .
I wonder why Ratchet and Uncharted are not on this list…

EA Explains Why There is No Red Alert 3 for PS3

VideoGamer.com visited EA’s UK HQ for some hands-on with the title and got a few words with EALA producer Amer Ajami about the PS3 of Red Alert 3.

“We actually announced a PS3 version early on but that was when we were still doing a lot of technical exploration of the architecture. PS3 is a very powerful system but as you guys know it’s very exotic and tough to develop for and our engine really at the time wasn’t designed for PS3.”
